Before the Collapse, Perimeter was a Mandate-sponsored organization charged with rooting out use of maltech, technology banned in human space as too dangerous for use or experimentation. After the Collapse, the Perimeter outpost on Tambov survived by becoming mercenaries and spies-for-hire. The agency never forgot their original mission and used funding from their freelance activities to continue investigations of potential maltech use. When an AI destroyed the Brahmaghosa venture (see above), Perimeter leaped into action. Today, the agency spearheads a veritable holy war against the Brahmaghosa AI.
